College Essay And Application Guidance and Mary Winston Scholarship is awarded to a graduating senior from a Smith County public, private or home school entering Texas A&M University. The recipient must have achieved a 2.5 GPA or higher on a 4.0 scale in his or her high school studies. Recipients must have achieved a GPA of at least 3.5 (on a 4.0 scale) in his or her high school. Applicant must a graduating senior from a public, private, or home school located in Smith County in East Texas. He treated all people in his life as if they were his dearest friends â€" a trait that is rare today. Applicant must have demonstrated outstanding citizenship and leadership during high school. The applicant must have been accepted to attend the University of Texas at Austin as a full-time student. Applicant must a graduating senior from a public, private, or home school in Smith County, Texas or from Bellaire High School in Bellaire, Texas. The recipient must have achieved a 3.0 GPA or higher on a 4.0 scale in high school studies. Recipient must be a resident of Smith County and a graduating senior at any public, private or home school within Smith County. The student must be admitted to attend the University of Texas at Austin and plan to enroll as a full-time student. Tim King was a graduate of Robert E. Lee High School and the University of Texas at Austin. He began working for Brookshire Grocery Company at the age of 16 until he completed his BBA from the University of Texas. Upon graduation, Tim first worked for an accounting firm and later joined BGC as a financial accountant. At the time of his death, Tim was Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. (Blinn TEAM does not qualify.) Applicant must have a written acceptance from Texas A&M University. The student must be admitted to attend or currently be enrolled at Texas A&M University in College Station as a full-time student. The recipient must have achieved a minimum cumulative GPA required for admission to Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas. He was truly a servant leader who was loved by all who had the unique opportunity to work with him. Applicant must be admitted to attend a University of Texas System university. The recipient must have achieved a GPA of at least a 2.0 (on a 4.0 scale) in his/her high school. Recipient must be a graduating senior from any public or private high school or home school in the State of Texas. Applicant must plan to enroll, and remain enrolled, as a full-time student at Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas. The recipient must have achieved a 3.0 GPA or higher (on a 4.0 scale) in his or her high school studies. Applicants must plan to enroll as a full-time student at the University of Texas at Tyler. Recipient must be a graduating senior from a public, private or home school in Smith County. The Allen and Nancy Locklin Scholarship is awarded to a graduating high school senior from Smith County who plans to attend the University of Texas at Tyler. The recipient must demonstrate outstanding citizenship, leadership qualities, Christian devotion, excellent moral character, and a commitment to community service. Applicant must be a graduating senior from a Smith County public, private, or home school. The recipient must have achieved a GPA of at least a 3.5 (on a 4.0 scale) in his/her high school. Recipient must be a graduating senior from a public or private high school or home school located in Smith County. Applicant must plan to enroll, and remain enrolled, as a full-time student at Baylor University in Waco, Texas. Applicant must have a written acceptance from Baylor University. Applicant must be a graduating senior or prior graduate, regardless of age, from a public school in Anderson, Cherokee, Gregg, Henderson, Rains, Rusk, Smith, Upshur, Van Zandt, and Wood Counties. Mrs. Lemons teaching career spanned 39 years and led her to work at almost every school in Tyler ISD. She also taught Sunday school to toddlers for 60 years. Mrs. Lemons was very active in Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts, teaching merit badges and supporting her three sons as they all earned the rank of Eagle Scout. In 1998, she received the Faithful Servant Award from the Boy Scouts for her work in scouting, church, and the community. Gary Neel was a very proud and passionate 1972 graduate of Robert E. Lee High School and 1976 graduate of the University of Texas at Austin. Upon graduation from the University of Texas, Gary entered the pharmacy business and at the time of his death was a senior district manager at a major pharmaceutical company. His sensitivity, humility and quiet strength were manifested in his love for his wife, family, co-workers and friends. Gary’s love, friendship and wisdom touched many hearts and made a difference in the lives of all who knew him.
